The “Plant 4 Mother” campaign, initiated by Vice-Chancellor Naveen Kumar at Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University, Palampur, was extended to the ‘adopted’ village of Khajurabasti in the Majherna gram panchayat under the Farmers FIRST programme.

The event was organised under “Unnat Bharat Abhiyan 2.0”, a flagship programme of the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

A total of fifty local farmers, including women, participated in the campaign. The attendees planted ‘aonla’ and ‘jamun’ saplings at the common land of the village.

Anju Kapoor, the Nodal Officer for Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, highlighted the significance of the campaign, launched by the Prime Minister of India. She emphasised the critical role of tree plantation in promoting environmental sustainability.

Dr Lav Bhushan shared his insights during the event, underscoring the campaign’s importance in fostering a greener future.
