Plantation drive, career fair mark Shiksha Saptah at Sanawar school

Lawrence School, Sanawar, recently celebrated “Shiksha Saptah”, an initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, to commemorate the 4th anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020.

Key events organised as part of the programme were community service, a sapling plantation drive and a career fair. Headmaster Himmat Singh Dhillon felicitated Army personnel from the Kasauli Brigade for their timely support in fighting forest fires around the school campus. He also expressed his gratitude to the local police authorities for their generous support, and felicitated Kasauli SHO Dharamveer Singh, Garkhal police post in-charge Balbir Singh, subordinate staff and the panchayat pradhan of the Garkhal-Kasauli panchayat for their cooperation.

Van Mahotsav was also celebrated during the week, where 150 saplings of trees, including deodar and oak, were planted by students of classes IX and X.

A special feature of the event was the “Plant4Mother” initiative, which celebrated the sacred bond between mothers and children, and our relation with Mother Earth.

Around ten mother-child duos sowed tree saplings on the occasion. A Global Career Fair was also organised. During the fair, students gained knowledge to make informed decisions about their higher studies including their potential careers, the best courses and colleges. University envoys from Trinity College Dublin, Australian University, Swiss Education Group, Campus France, Ashoka University, Le Rosche, Indian School of Hospitality, OP Jindal Global University, Mahindra University, Chitkara University, BML Munjal University and others were present at the fair.

Dhillon said, “The school is committed to implementing NEP-2020 in letter and spirit. The faculty is constantly upgrading their skills and innovating teaching methodologies to impart experiential learning to the students.” — TNS
