The police arrested proclaimed offender (PO) Deepak Kumar, a resident of Harnota village in Jawali sub-division, from his native place last evening.

The arrest was made under a special campaign launched by Nurpur district police to arrest fugitives declared proclaimed offenders by the judicial courts.

A case under Section 21 of the NDPS Act was registered against him. After completion of police investigations, the Indora judicial court had granted him bail. However, he didn’t appear in the court after the expiry of bail.

As per the police, he was arrested by on February 10, 2019 with 2.06-gm chitta from his possession.The Nurpur SP said the accused against whom a chargesheet was filed in the court on May 28, 2019 was declared a proclaimed offender by the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Indora, on June 17 last year. He said following a tip-off, a police team led by head constable Sanjeev Kumar arrested the PO from his native village.

The Indora police, meanwhile, registered another FIR against the drug peddler under Section 174A of IPC and produced him in the court for police remand.
