Police action plan to counter cybercrime in Baddi, Bilaspur
To curb rising cybercrime in Himachal, police have prepared an action plan to introduce ‘Cyber Swachhta Ver.-01’ in the police districts of Bilaspur and Baddi. DGP Atul Verma chaired a meeting here on Saturday where discussions were held regarding the action plan. All facts, figures and cyber trends prevailing in the two districts were presented.
The meeting was held at the police headquarters in Shimla and was attended by ADGP AK Yadav, DIG (Cyber Crime) Mohit Chawla and other officials.
The DGP, in a press statement issued here, said that the ‘Cyber Swachhta Ver.01’ was a pilot project to identify, trace and eliminate cybercrime perpetrators from the state. “In the first stage of the project, it will help law enforcement agencies to establish better coordination and improve investigation skills in cybercrimes. It’s a proactive initiative of the state cybercrime unit to make Himachal a safe and secure cyber space for its citizens,” he added.
The ‘Cyber Swachhta Kendra’ (Botnet Cleaning and Malware Analysis Centre) is an initiative under the Union Government’s Digital India programme, led by the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Its primary goal is to enhance cyber security by detecting botnet infections in the country, notifying users and assisting in cleaning and securing their systems to prevent further infections.
