Solan: The Sirmaur police arrested Raju of Chichiriya Dhar from Rajgarh for illegally cultivating opium plants in the village. A police team raided the field and destroyed the plants. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against him. In another case, Yashwant Singh of Jamnaghat in Paonta Sahib was found brewing semi-distilled liquor by a team of Paonta Sahib police in Jamnighat Dida and Dida Khala forests. His accomplice Jasbir Singh managed to flee when the police arrived. About 20 litre semi-distilled liquor had been brewed while another 200 litre found in the drums was destroyed. TNS

HPSEBL assures consumers of bill adjustment

Chamba: HP State Electricity Board Ltd (HPSEBL) has clarified that electricity bills for March were generated on the basis of average bills of the previous year’s consumption in the same month due to Covid-19. In an official communiqué on Sunday, HPSEBL spokesperson Anurag Prashar said the bills would be adjusted with actual meter reading in the coming electricity bills. The subsidy being given by the government will also be reflected in the bills as usual. “The HPSEBL subdivisions have been instructed to redress any billing issue raised by any consumer forthwith,” he said. SJVN celebrates raising day

Shimla: The Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) on Sunday celebrated its 33rd raising day stating that it had contributed Rs 25 crore towards the PM CARES fund and Rs 2 crore to the state government for the purchase of PPE kits, hand sanitisers, masks and food to fight Covid-19. CMD Nand Lal Sharma said he was happy that SJVN employees had voluntarily come forward to donate their one-day salary. He said the company started with a single hydro project in 1988 and currently, it had a portfolio of 7,489.2 MW . TNS
