Police Lines in Solan sealed after two constables test positive

The state registered 11 Covid cases today, taking the tally to 1,182.

The highest number of four cases were reported in Una — the total number of cases in the district rose to 138. Three cases were reported in Kangra, two in Solan and one each in Sirmaur and Hamirpur districts.

Meanwhile, the Police Lines in Solan was sealed today after two constables tested positive for coronavirus last evening. While one of them was on duty to guard EVMs, the other was deployed at the Police Lines.

11 ventilators for Una

  • The Una health authorities have been provided 11 ventilators to the department
  • Six of these have been sent to the District Covid Care Centre in Khad village of Haroli
  • Three ventilators will be used at the isolation ward of the District Hospital
  • The remaining two had been sent to Gagret and Amb

Civil Hospitals.

Solan SP Abhishek Yadav said that 30 policemen, who were in their contact, had been quarantined. The Police Lines would be sanitised tomorrow.

He said that the tests of over 600 policemen deployed in the district had been done and only these two had tested Covid-positive. Their source of infection was yet to be ascertained, as they did not have a travel history.

Their family members, too, had not travelled outside the state.

As one of them had visited his family at Dagshai town, at least 10 houses, including his residence, were declared as a containment zone and the residents were quarantined at their homes.

Two infected in Solan

Two persons tested positive for Covid-19 in the Baddi area of Solan today, taking the tally of cases in the district to 177.

A 33-year-old youth from Chuhuwal in Baddi, who was a primary contact of an infected worker of Wrigley India Pvt Ltd, and a 26-year-old migrant worker of SSF Plastics, Baddi, tested positive. The latter had come back from Uttar Pradesh on June 10 and tested Covid-negative earlier. He was residing in a colony near the petrol pump at Baddi, said Medical Officer, Solan, Dr NK Gupta. Both were shifted to the Covid hospital at Bakhalag in Arki.

Assam returnee positive

A 34-year-old man, who had returned to his native village Keda in Nahan in Sirmaur district from Assam on July 5, tested Covid-positive on Saturday. Sirmaur Deputy Commissioner RK Pruthi said that he was in home quarantine since his return and was shifted to the Covid care centre at Trilokpur. There are 41 positive cases in the district, including five active cases.

3 test positive in Kangra

Three persons tested Covid-positive in Kangra today, taking the total number of cases in the district to 303.

A 65-year-old man from Gharjarot village in Jawali was found infected. He is a primary contact of coronavirus patients and was shifted to the Covid Containment Centre at Dharamsala.

A 37-year-old man, a resident of Nanau village in Una, who was brought by the police to Tanda Medical College for medical examination also tested positive. A 50-year-old man from Basa village in Nagrota Surian of Kangra with travel history of Sangrur in Punjab also tested positive for coronavirus.

Meanwhile, a 65-year-old woman, a resident of Kuthera village, recovered and was discharged from the Covid Containment Centre.

The virus had, so far, claimed nine lives in the state, while 875 of the infected people had recovered, and 13 had migrated out of the state, officials said.

Three more patients — one each in Una, Kangra and Chamba — recovered from the infection on Saturday, said Additional Chief Secretary (Health) RD Dhiman.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state now stands at 276, he said.
