Shimla, September 1

To ensure speedy disposal of public complaints and grievances, the police have decided not to take cognizance of anonymous complaints.

Only the complaints in which the name, address, phone number and Aadhar card number of the complainant is mentioned will be investigated and acted upon.

The decision was taken yesterday at the ‘Monday meeting’ held under the chairmanship of DGP Sanjay Kundu.

It was decided that parameters should be fixed for timely disposal of complaints and the police would create awareness among people and keep in touch with the complainants.

The issue of anonymous complaints was discussed in detail and the general view was that a lot of time is wasted in investigations into these complaints, but there is no tangible result. All superintendents of police have been told to dispose of genuine complaints and ignore those in which the complainant’s identity is not disclosed.
