A webinar on the Prime Minister Formalisation of Micro Food Enterprises (PM FME) was organised by the Department of Food Science and Technology, Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni, for its promotion among stakeholders. Dr Parvinder Kaushal, Vice-Chancellor, was the chief guest on the occasion. Ramesh Verma, Joint Director, Department of Industries, Dr SK Mishra, GM, Nabard, and Dr KD Sharma, Professor, FST, were the guest speakers. The VC urged the scientists to disseminate information about this scheme, which will make the country self-reliant in all spheres and reduce dependence on imports.

NPW most-awaited reform: Minister

The School of Physics and Materials Science and Biological and Environmental Sciences, Shoolini University, Solan, organised a webinar on the National Education Policy. Education Minister Govind Singh Thakur, who was the chief guest, said it was the most-awaited education policy of independent India. Dr Mamta Sharma, Head, School of Biological and Environmental Sciences, welcomed all dignitaries and participants. Prof PK Khosla, VC, said, “Shoolini University is the dream of academicians to provide high-impact and high-quality university education to lesser privileged students of Himachal and India through research, innovative learning and community service”. The minister also inaugurated “Shoolini Science Web Series”, a platform for knowledgeable interaction.

ABVP protests Goswami’s arrest

The ABVP on Thursday staged a dharna outside the DC office against the arrest of Arnab Goswami. Rahul Rana, one of the protesters, said the Maharashtra Government’s politics of revenge was completely against democratic values. Goswami’s arrest was a blow to the right of freedom of expression, said Rana. Slamming the Maharashtra Government, Rana alleged that it had shown same dictatorial attitude and approach in actor Kangna Ranaut’s case too when her office was partially demolished. He said Goswami had been raising issues related to society. The action against him was totally “unjust and undemocratic”.

Pinegrove’s annual day celebrations
