Hamirpur, November 8
The Centre had provided Rs 450 crore interest-free loan to Himachal Pradesh for 50 years, said Anurag Thakur, Minister of State for Finance and Corporate affairs, while addressing a public meeting at Tauni Devi here today.
He said a sum of Rs 204 crore was given for disaster management, and Rs 282 crore was provided under the Jal Jeevan Mission. He said the Prime Minister had sanctioned two mega electric projects for the state, including the Luhari power project in Shimla and the Dhaula Sidh power project in Hamirpur. Besides generating 210 mega watt and 66 mega watt of electricity respectively, these project would generate over 1,000 jobs for the youth, he said. While addressing another meeting at Sujanpur, he said the construction of stadium and shops along Chaugan by Satluj Jal Vikas Nigam Limited would protect small and marginal shopkeepers.
Earlier, Thakur had inaugurated the community building at Tauni Devi, and distributed solar lamps, cycles and induction stoves to 360 labourers at Chauri. He also laid the foundation stone of the stadium complex at Sujanpur. — OC
