Postal cover launched to mark 100 years of St Edwards School
St Edwards School in Shimla celebrated its Centenary Foundation Day and Investiture Ceremony with enthusiasm today. The school, founded on March 9, 1925, by Bishop Edward Keneally and Columban Doheny, has a rich history of academic excellence.
The ceremony was graced by Justice Sanjay Karol, Supreme Court Judge, as the chief guest and Bishop Ignatius Mascarenhas as the guest of honour. Justice Karol, an alumnus of St Edwards School, earned an Honours Bachelor’s degree and a Law degree from Himachal Pradesh University. He was appointed as the Advocate General of Himachal Pradesh in 1998, and got the status of Senior Advocate in 1999. Having held many important positions, he was appointed as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India on 6 February, 2023.
The event began with flag hoisting, followed by the school anthem and a march past parade by students from all four houses. Senior former Edwardians and alumni were also present, participating enthusiastically in the march past and refreshing old memories.
A special postal cover was released and a special advertorial was circulated across Himachal Pradesh. The school also celebrated a Holy Mass to mark the occasion. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem, filling the hearts of every Edwardian with pride.
On the occasion, a new student cabinet was formed, with Ayan Singh Bisht as School Captain.
