Posts of staff nurse to be filled soon, says Deputy Speaker

Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker Hans Raj has said that 24,429 persons have been tested with regard to coronavirus in Chamba district. Of the 973 persons infected by the virus, 848 have fully recovered while 108 are undergoing medical treatment. He was speaking at the auditorium of local Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College (PJNGMC) today while presiding over a meeting organized to review various steps being taken by the health department to prevent Covid-19.

The Deputy Speaker said the process of filling 30 posts of staff nurses at Covid hospital in the medical college had been started.

Hans Raj also said that 32 ventilators were being installed in various wards of the medical college. Five transportable and five permanent ventilators had been installed so far.

The Deputy Speaker directed Additional Director Medical College to send action taken report about the increase of various allowances to some doctors of the institute to DC Chamba. He said that this medical college was the only major health institution in Chamba district and in such a situation, all efforts should be made to provide better health facilities to the common people.

He directed the college management to complete all the formalities with respect to the procurement process for the equipment to be set up for starting MRI and CT scan facility at medical college. He assured the management that four new emergency service vehicles would be provided for the convenience of the people.

He asked the college management to provide high quality face masks, sanitizers, PPE kits and gloves to all the doctors and health workers working in various departments of medical college.

PJNGMC principal Dr Ramesh Bharti informed the meeting that for the treatment of infected patients of Covid-19, the medical college had started a 15-bedded dedicated Covid hospital with 10 persons currently undergoing treatment.
