The Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (HPSEBL) Employees Union has expressed resentment against the management’s decision to withdraw 186 junior office assistants (accounts) from sub-divisional offices and place 40 posts of senior assistant in the surplus pool as part of the rationalisation and restructuring process. The union has urged the management to withdraw the orders. It has also written to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to intervene in the matter.

The union has said that the management has already withdrawn 159 posts of senior assistant from sub-divisional offices. In a letter to HPSEBL Chairman Sanjay Gupta, the union stated that the board staff strength at the sub-divisional level should be increased as entire data inputs and revenue collection happen at these offices. The union added that the removal of staff would severely affect revenue collection and disrupt consumer services. The proposed removal of employees from the finance wing would affect the functioning of the board, it has claimed.

The union has urged the board management to reconsider its decisions and find alternative solutions that do not harm its functioning and employees’ interests.
