Power consumers told to link Aadhaar with meter number

The Himachal Pradesh Electricity Corporation has asked domestic consumers to get their Aadhaar linked with power meter number by December 31 to avail continuous subsidy being provided by the corporation.

According to a press release, the process of eKYC, to link Aadhaar with meter number will be done at office of respective Assistant Engineers.

The consumers will have to bring old and new bills, along with Aadhaar card and ration card. At the time of the eKYC, the mobile number linked with Aadhaar should also be in the possession of the consumer since the OTP will be received on that mobile number.

The release further read that for the consumers failing to get the eKYC done in time will not be able to claim subsidy in tariff. The domestic power bills for November and December should have been paid before eKYC to avoid disconnection of the meter without any notice at the end of the calendar year.
