Pradhan, two ward members suspended over ‘irregularities’

A pradhan and two ward members of Lani Borad Gram Panchayat in Shillai development block of Sirmaur district have been suspended over alleged financial irregularities and for neglecting their duties.

As per the order issued by District Panchayat Officer Abhishek Mittal, pradhan Ramesh Kumar and ward members Kapil Rana and Asha Devi have been suspended. The suspensions have come following allegations of misuse of panchayat property by Ramesh Kumar. Kapil Rana is accused of negligence in the execution of duty and potential tampering with evidence. Asha Devi faces allegations of disappearance of 150 bags of cement and other material, along with inappropriate use of resources valued at Rs 86,191 and Rs 68,986.

DPO Abhishek Mittal said the trio would be subjected to an investigation under Section 146 of the Himachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj Act.
