Pratibha Singh: Will continue work for strengthening party

Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Pratibha Singh today said her family would continue to work to strengthen the party regardless of who’s heading it in the state. “Virbhadra Singh would always tell me and Vikramaditya Singh to work for strengthening the party. We will continue to work for the party as per his wishes,” said Pratibha Singh, who seems to have fallen behind in the race for the president’s post.

In a press conference here today, she said the decision of the high command regarding the HPCC president and organisation would be acceptable to all. “In a meeting with the high command, I said whoever is named the new president, should be acceptable to all and have the ability to take everyone along,” she said.

Pratibha Singh further said she spoke for dedicated party workers and the need to honour and accommodate them. “I have apprised the high command of the actual situation. It’s for the high command to take the decision now,” she said. Rahul Gandhi heard all of them, and he would soon take a decision on the reconstitution of the dissolved HPCC and its president, she said.

When asked why no minister sits in the party office to address problems of the people and workers, she said only Chief Minister could answer this. “I have requested the Chief Minister that ministers should be available in the party office so that party workers can approach them. Their absence disappoints and discourages party workers,” she said. — TNS
