Noted Hindi film actress Preity Zinta, who hails from Himachal, has donated Rs 30 lakh for the disaster-hit people of the state. Zinta made this payment to Shimla-based NGO Almighty Blessing for the relief and rehabilitation of the disaster-struck people of Kullu and Mandi districts. “Preity Zinta has transferred the amount to our bank account through her IPL team Punjab Kings. I want to thank her and assure her that the donation will be used in the best possible way,” said Sarbjeet Singh Bobby, whose Almighty Blessing is helping in providing relief to disaster-hit people in Kullu and Mandi.
Bobby said that Zinta was in touch with them over the past 10 days, saying that she wanted to do something for the disaster-hit people. “In the meantime, her brother, who’s in the Army, visited our langar in Shimla. And then, her mother also came to our langar and appreciated the service we are offering to people. And then, Preity Zinta transferred the amount to our bank account on Saturday,” he added. “The donation has further boosted our morale to help the needy people,” he asserted.
Zinta hails from Rohru in Shimla district. She had studied in Shimla and moved to Mumbai after taking a plunge into Hindi films. Anupam Kher, Kangana Ranaut and Yami Gautam are other noted Hindi film actors from the state.
