Preparations complete for Shri Renuka Ji Fair

The International Shri Renuka Ji Fair will be celebrated with traditional fervour from October 31 to November 5 this year. All preparations for the week-long fair have been completed, said Vinay Kumar, MLA and Chairman of the Shri Renuka Ji Development Board.

He presided over a meeting held in the Deputy Commissioner’s office at Nahan to assess the readiness of various departments involved in the organisation of the fair. Vinay said that the successful conduct of the fair required coordinated efforts from all departments.

The fair will feature exhibitions by different government departments showcasing various developmental schemes and initiatives. Besides, a range of cultural programmes will be organised to entertain visitors and traditional wrestling competitions (dangal) will also be held, continuing the fair’s longstanding cultural heritage.

Detailed discussions were held regarding repair works at the fairground, construction of a temporary bridge and the maintenance of connecting roads. The departments concerned were directed to complete all necessary works before the commencement of the fair.

To ensure safety and smooth traffic management during the event, special instructions were issued to the Police Department. CCTV cameras would be installed on the fairground to maintain close surveillance and ensure that all activities were conducted peacefully.

Deputy Commissioner, Sirmaur, Priyanka Verma, SP Nishchint Singh Negi, Additional District Magistrate LR Verma and officers from various departments attended the meeting.

The fair, one of the most prominent religious and cultural events of Sirmaur district, attracts thousands of devotees and tourists every year, celebrating the divine union of Lord Parashurama and his mother, Goddess Renuka.
