Prioritise social, economic advancement of minority communities: Chamba DC
Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal has called upon departmental officials to prioritise the social and economic advancement of minority communities by ensuring the effective and timely implementation of welfare schemes. He made these remarks while presiding over a district-level committee meeting under the Prime Minister’s New 15-Point Programme at the Deputy Commissioner’s office auditorium.
During the meeting, the DC stressed the importance of enabling minority students to benefit from various scholarship schemes. He directed officials from the higher and primary education departments to disseminate information about these initiatives at the school level to ensure maximum reach and participation.
Addressing the need for Urdu teachers in district schools, Repaswal proposed utilising volunteers under the “Apna Vidyalaya” scheme and instructed relevant officials to take immediate steps to address this issue.
The meeting also included a review of ongoing efforts to empower self-help groups under urban and rural livelihood missions, skill development programmes for minorities and initiatives to foster communal harmony. Officials were given detailed guidelines to enhance these programmes and increase their impact.
DC Repaswal encouraged non-governmental committee members to provide suggestions to further the social and economic welfare of minority communities.
Additionally, the session reviewed cases under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, the RPWD Act, and the National Trust Act, approving certain relief cases during the discussion.
District Welfare Officer Chaman Lal Sharma conducted the meeting, which saw the participation of Deputy Superintendent of Police Jitender Kumar, General Manager of Industries Chander Bhushan, Deputy Director of Primary Education Gyan Chauhan among others.
