Private bus tips over in Mandi, woman injured
A private bus belonging to Aryan Express, plying from Kullu to Kangra, met with an accident near Upper Bhambla on the Mandi-Jahu road in Mandi district today. The bus suddenly tilted to its right side and fell on the road, causing panic among the passengers.
According to Mandi SP Sakshi Verma, at the time of the incident, there were around 10 to 12 passengers on board. Fortunately, all passengers were safe, except for one person who sustained minor injuries.
"According to the driver’s initial statement, the accident occurred due to sudden brake failure. To prevent a major mishap, he steered the bus towards the hill side, causing it to tilt to its right side and fall," she added.
The SP said that a police team led by the SHO, Hatli, was trying to ascertain the cause of the accident. Preliminary findings suggest that the bus was moving at a normal speed when it suddenly tipped over. A woman passenger, who was traveling from Pandoh to Ghumarwin, sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalisation.
"Further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the brake failure," she added.
