Parveen Sharma, former trustee of Chamunda Nandikeshwar Temple trust and a senior BJP leader, today said the state government should order a high level inquiry into the dismantling of 100 solar lights by the Forest Department.

Addressing newsmen here this evening, Sharma said these lights were very helpful even during the day while traversing the difficult track to the temple and coming down. He said three years ago some devotees had lost their lives when they inadvertently went to the wrong side and fell into a deep gorge. He said after the installation of solar lights, the devotees were following the proper route and no such incident had taken place again.

He said dismantling of solar lights on the way to the temple was a serious matter related to religious sentiments of people, therefore the Chief Minister, being head of state, must come forward and punish the culprits to avoid any agitation in the area. He regretted that the Kangra administration was trying to justify its wrongful action.
