Una MLA Satpal Satti today demanded an inquiry into the assets and properties of “tainted” officers and their families to assess the scale of corruption or else people like Chief Engineer Vimal Negi would keep dying.

Satti, while participating in the debate on Budget proposals in the Assembly here, expressed concern over “rampant corruption” among senior officials in the state. “There is rampant corruption and unless steps are not taken to check this worrisome trend, honest officers like Chief Engineer Vimal Negi will keep dying,” he added.

He alleged that there was rampant corruption in many departments where money was even being charged for transfers. He added that honest government officers, who were feeling marginalized, were totally demoralised.

Satti said, “I will like to caution employees and pensioners that the state government does not have money to give them arrears, so they should not have the hope of getting their dues.” He added that every section of society, be it employees, farmers, youth and women, were disillusioned with the state government.

Satti stressed the need for improving healthcare facilities and expressed concern over deteriorating law and order. He said doctors after doing post-graduation were preferring to serve in corporate hospitals rather than in government institutions. “Action must be taken against such doctors for not honouring the bond being furnished by them,” he added.

He said that more than 1,000 ventilators acquired during the Covid pandemic were non-functional.
