In a bid to enhance the employability of the youth, the state government is working in a planned manner to equip the students with future technologies. Arki MLA Sanjay Awasthi said this while addressing the convocation ceremony at Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Arki.

He said a proposal to introduce new courses like artificial intelligence and steno typing courses in English at ITI Arki would be presented before the Chief Minister. These courses would be introduced soon after receiving the due approval.

He said, “In future, many works would be accomplished through technology. Therefore, it is necessary that students in ITIs are prepared for expert use of future technologies.”

“Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is constantly striving towards this for the last two years, following which BTech and diploma courses in artificial intelligence, drone science and data science have been introduced in the state’s engineering colleges and ITIs,” he added.

Awasthi further said the state government was also working towards making students job providers, while enhancing their employability.

He urged the students to become job providers by taking advantage of the Rajiv Gandhi Start-up Scheme.

“The state government is organising campus interviews, especially for ITI students, so that the youth can secure gainful employment according to their skills. A sum of Rs 330 crore is being spent on the technical education sector in this financial year,” he added.

The MLA said besides imparting skills to ITI trainees, the government was also working to make them technically proficient as it is the need of the hour.

Ajay Kumar Thakur, Executive Principal of Government Industrial Training Institute, Arki, presented also the institute’s annual report on the occasion.
