Protest held to demand filling of key posts in Darang govt school

A protest was held today to demand immediate filling of eight posts of lecturer at Government Senior Secondary School, Kufri, in Mandi district today. Out of the total 11 posts of lecturer in the school, eight are lying vacant.

Aggrieved parents organised a demonstration at the school at Kufri in the remote Dunda region of the Darang Assembly constituency, demanding immediate filling of vacant posts. The protest was organised by the School Management Committee (SMC) members and parents led by District Council Member Kushal Bhardwaj.

OP Thakur, SMC president, said the shortage of teachers had severely impacted students’ studies. He demanded urgent resolution of the issue. He added that of total 11 posts of lecturer, eight were vacant.

Bhardwaj said the posts of lecturer for key subjects like history, chemistry, English, political science, Hindi, economics and physics were vacant. He added that the vacancies of senior assistant and office clerk had affected the functioning of the school.

He appealed to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Education Minister Rohit Thakur to address the issue promptly, keeping in view students’ future.
