Nurpur, July 30
Up in arms against hooliganism and the failure of the cops to arrest three culprits, who at large after attacking two youths at Ganoh near Nurpur on Saturday evening, hundreds of villagers today assembled at the police station and held demonstration. Raising demand to immediately arrest the culprits, villagers and relatives of the victims burnt effigies of the accused wanted in the deadly attack. They also raised slogans against the police expressing their resentment for not arresting the culprits after three days of the crime.
The protesters also staged a dharna at the crime spot on the Ganoh-Raja Ka Talab link road for a few minutes.
As per information, victims Vinod Kumar (23) of Bhugnara and Aditya (21) of Kandi village were going to a place on a motorcycle. They overtook a vehicle of culprits, identified as Aditya Dadwal, his father JD Thakur and Rahul, all residents of Aghar Ka Talab at Ganoh. After the victims overtook vehicle of the accused, the latter allegedly attacked the victims with sharp weapons. Aditya sustained serious injuries on his hand and arm in the attack, while Vinod sustained grave head injury and is battling for his life at a private hospital in Pathankot.
The Nurpur police registered an FIR under sections 109, 118(1) and 3(5) of the BNS against three suspects. DC Verma, ASP, Nurpur, assured villagers that absconding culprits would not be spared. He said the police had constituted four special teams to search and nab the culprits. He said the police teams were conducting raids at different locations to apprehend the accused. — OC
