KULLU, JULY 8
To sensitise the masses about the proposed tunnel at the Jalori Pass, public consultations will be held at Sojha and Khanag rest houses in Banjar and Anni subdivisions, respectively, on July 10.
Representatives of the company engaged in the preparation of the detailed project report (DPR) will have discussions with residents who would be affected due to the tunnel.
The residents of Sojha village in Banjar subdivision have been protesting against the proposed alignment of the tunnel from underneath the village.
About 90 per cent of the voters here had boycotted the recent Lok Sabha poll to express their concerns.
The Banjar SDM had assured them that deliberations would be held after the elections.
KL Suman, Executive Engineer of the National Highway Wing of the Public Works Department (PWD), said inputs from the public would be taken and conveyed to the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
Executives of the consultant company would communicate what had been done so far and the feedback would be taken. Local stakeholders, NGOs and government officials would be present during the programme, he said. Anyone could give suggestions related to the tunnel’s construction.
