Chamba police on Tuesday arrested a man from Punjab after recovering 512 gm of charas from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Tarsem, a resident of Tibar village in Gurdaspur district, Punjab. He has been booked under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and police have launched an investigation to ascertain the source of contraband he was carrying and as well as the intended destination.
Police said they had laid a nakka at Janghi. The accused, who was passing by, appeared nervous upon spotting the police team, prompting them to search him.
During the search, police recovered 512 gm of charas from his bag. The suspect was immediately taken into custody. He is currently being interrogated to ascertain where he obtained the contraband and where he intended to transport it.
