Speaking at the event, the minister said the addition of these vehicles will accelerate departmental work, particularly in remote and hard-to-reach areas. “This is an important effort towards increasing access to far-flung regions and ensuring timely completion of disaster management and inspection tasks,” he remarked.

The new fleet will primarily support inspection teams and engineers of the Public Works Department, enabling them to reach the ground level swiftly. According to Singh, this move will not only enhance the speed and efficiency of departmental operations but also improve the quality of infrastructure monitoring and construction reviews.

Highlighting the procurement process, the minister said the vehicles were purchased through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal in a transparent and cost-effective manner. “This reflects the government’s commitment to Digital India and the principles of good governance,” he noted.

The vehicles will be utilised for departmental inspections, monitoring, construction reviews and quick response during emergencies such as landslides, floods or other natural calamities. This initiative is expected to significantly strengthen the department’s ability to provide faster relief and improved oversight.
