Shimla, August 22
Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh said here today that the state government would purchase Bailey bridges worth Rs 15 crore in view of the fact that several bridges were damaged severely due to heavy rains.
Inspecting the landslide site here today he said an alternative route would be built for Boileauganj within the next 15 days as a stop-gap arrangement. Vikramaditya said the problem of water drainage on the road had also come to the fore and necessary work would be done in this regard as well.
He said since the road to Boileauganj was buried under debris due to the landslide near the MLA crossing, an alternative route would be made for the convenience of the commuters. “As a long-term solution, the site will be treated scientifically for which a DPR is being prepared by the departmental officials,” he stated.
The minister along with the officials inspected the Dhami Government College building. “The college building has developed many cracks due to which a part of the college has become unsafe. The road leading from the national highway to the college road has also developed cracks. This area will be repaired in a scientific manner, in phases, so that the college building is secure,” he assured. He also listened to the problems of local people and resolved them.
