QR code launched on Chamba’s historic Akhand Chandi Palace
Information about Chamba’s historic Akhand Chandi Palace and Chamba Library will now be digitally accessible to both locals and tourists with just a single scan. A QR code under Digi-X Tales launched on Saturday will provide comprehensive written and audio information about the sites.
By scanning the QR code, the visitors will be directed to a website (Book My Experience), where they can access detailed historical insights about Akhand Chandi Palace, including its significance and legacy.
The information will be available in both Hindi and English, along with an audio guide, allowing visitors to listen to the details as they explore the site.
The QR code was developed by Not On Map and Association for Conservation and Tourism (ACT), in collaboration with the District Tourism Department, Language Department, Book My Experience and Seva Himalaya.
The initiative was launched at a special event in Chamba, where Rakesh Kanwar, Secretary, Language & Culture and Education, officially launched the QR code for Akhand Chandi Palace.
At the event, officials also discussed a broader plan to digitise Chamba’s historical monuments through QR codes, in collaboration with the District Tourism Department, Not On Map and ACT.
Kanwar praised the initiative, emphasising that tourists visiting historical sites are always eager to learn more about their significance. With the QR code, this information will now be readily available at their fingertips.
Additionally, QR codes for other historical landmarks in Chamba are also being developed to further enhance the visitor experience.
”The initiative to digitise Akhand Chandi Palace and other historical sites has begun. The project, named ‘Digi X Chamba Tales’, will allow tourists to listen to and read detailed historical insights through QR codes,” said Manuj Sharma, co-founder of Not on Map.
