Quality education key to a brighter future: Himachal Minister
Attends the annual day celebration of the Sacred Heart Convent School, Dhalli
Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh on Sunday attended the annual day celebration of the Sacred Heart Convent School, Dhalli in Shimla, as chief guest and said education builds the future and quality education is the foundation of a better future.
While addressing the students as well as the faculty members, the minister praised the students for their inspiring performances, especially the plays depicting the lives of freedom fighters. He said India’s Independence was achieved after years of struggle and therefore, we must always remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters. “These stories of struggle should be passed down from generation to generation,” he added.
Expressing concern over the rising drug menace, Singh appealed to parents to not only provide quality education to their children but also instil good values in them. He said it is the duty of every section of society to keep the young generation away from drugs. “The state government is running an extensive campaign against drugs. Across the state, the police are taking strict action against narcotics. Additionally, the state government has amended laws to tighten the noose around those involved in drug trafficking,” he said. The minister said efforts are being made to strengthen the rural economy.
The school principal, Sister Grace Dava Mary, said education gives new direction to society. “Education is the greatest tool that can turn the story of change into reality. The school aims at the holistic development of its students, who are excelling not only in academics but also in various other fields,” she said.
