High-velocity winds accompanied by rain and hailstorm lashed Palampur and its adjoining areas on Friday night, disrupting life in many parts of the region.

Holta, Banuri, Tanda Mehanja Rajpur, Panchrukhi areas were the worst affected where standing crops were damaged. Many trees got uprooted, blocking local roads and highways.

The power supply was also disrupted in several parts of Palampur. Traffic to Chhota Bhanghal was suspended following heavy snowfall near Multhan, Bara Gram, Luhardi and Kothi Kohar. Billing, famous paragliding destination near Palampur, recorded one-foot snow by Saturday afternoon. A number of tourists have been stranded at Billing and Chhota Bhanghal.— OC
