High-velocity winds, accompanied by rain and hailstorm, lashed Palampur town and adjoining areas on Thursday night disrupting the normal life.

As per reports, several trees were uprooted in the area, blocking the local roads and highways.

Two persons were injured when a tree fell on a house near Khera village, 15 km from here.

Power supply was also disrupted in the lower areas of Palampur, but it was restored within a few hours. In some parts, hailstorm and rain caused extensive damage to the standing crops.

Vehicular movement to Chhota Bhangal was suspended following rain in Multhan, Bara Gram, Luhardi and Kothi Kohar.

A number of tourists were reportedly stranded at Multhan and Barot.

The upper reaches of the Dhauladhars experienced a fresh spell of snowfall.

Paragliding activities were suspended in Bir-Billing due to inclement weather. Tourists and paraglider pilots were directed by the administration against flying solo or tandem to avoid. A spokesman of the Tourism Department said the weather was not favourable for paragliding due to high velocity winds.
