Sirmaur Deputy Commissioner Sumit Khimta held a comprehensive review meeting here, focusing on the preparedness and response strategies for the ongoing monsoon season. The meeting was attended by key district officials responsible for critical services such as roads, drinking water, electricity and other essential supplies.
In the light of the challenges faced during last year’s monsoon, the DC issued directives to all departments to remain vigilant.
He instructed all departments to regularly submit reports on the damages, caused by the monsoon, to the District Disaster Management Authority. He stressed the need for department heads to keep a close watch on any potential disasters and damages in their respective areas, ensuring prompt action in case of an emergency.
Khimta also provided an update on the impact of rains in the district, stating that the total estimated loss was of Rs 16.55 crore so far. It includes damages of Rs 3.87 crore to the Jal Shakti Department, around Rs 10 crore to roads, Rs 2.38 crore to electricity infrastructure and Rs 1.60 lakh to private property.
To discuss the extent of the damages in their respective regions, the sub-divisional magistrates (SDMs) from Nahan, Paonta Sahib, Rajgarh, Shillai and Sangrah also participated in the meeting via videoconferencing.
Additional District Magistrate LR Verma, District Revenue Officer Chetan Chauhan, DRDA Project Officer Abhishek Mittal, Deputy Director of Elementary Education Rajeev Thakur, Deputy Director of Higher Education Ajit Chauhan, Superintending Engineer Public Works Arvind Sharma, Jal Shakti Executive Engineer Jagbir Verma, Home Guards Commandant TR Sharma and Nahan Tehsildar Upendra Kumar were present in the meeting.
