Shimla, May 26
The local Meteorological office today issued a yellow warning of rain, thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds with speed of 34 to 40 kmph in lower and mid hills from May 28 to 30 even as lower hills reeled under scorching heat with the maximum temperature of 43.2°C at Una.
The mercury crossed 35°C at many places — Bilaspur recorded a high of 39.5°C, Sundernagar 39.3 °C, Hamirpur 39.2°C, Kangra 38.2 °C, Nahan 36.6°C, Bhuntar 36 °C, Solan 35.4°C and Shimla 28.4°C.
The MeT office has forecast rain and thundershowers in mid hills and rain and snowfall in higher hills from May 27 to June 1.
The minimum temperatures stayed closed to normal — Nahan and Una recorded a low of 22.7 °C and 21.5°C while Keylong was the coldest with night temperatures at 5.5°C. — TNS
