Rain, thunderstorm lash several parts of Himachal

Light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorm lashed several parts of the state since Tuesday evening. Some parts of upper Shimla were hit by hail. Light snowfall, too, has been reported from higher reaches of Lahaul and Spiti district.

The districts of Shimla, Mandi and Bilaspur recorded the highest rainfall over the last 24 hours. Thunderstorm was reported from Shimla, Jubberhatti, Kangra, Sundernagar, Bhuntar, Murari Devi and Jot. Gusty winds were recorded in Neri, Bilaspur, Dhaula Kuan, Kukumseri and Seobagh.

This spell of precipitation is likely to ease up from tomorrow, and the weather is likely to remain largely dry up to June 10.

Due to rain and thunderstorm, maximum temperatures have seen appreciable fall over the last 24 hours. At most stations, the maximum temperatures were below normal by four to seven degree Celsius. Maximum temperatures very likely to rise by about 5-6 degree Celsius and minimum temperatures by about 3-4 degree Celsius over many parts of the state during the subsequent next 4-5 days from tomorrow onwards.
