Rainfall activity likely to spike in Himachal till August 28

The rainfall activity is likely to spike in the state till August 28. During this spell, the peak rainfall activity will be witnessed on August 23 and 26. As per the weather department, light to moderate rainfall is likely at most places across over the state in this period, with heavy rainfall at isolated places. There’s a possibility of isolated thunderstorm and lightning as well.

The weather department has issued yellow alert for heavy rainfall for tomorrow at isolated places over Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur districts. For August 24, the alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for isolated places in Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur districts.

Till today evening, 316 roads, including one national highway, is still obstructed across the state. Most roads are blocked in Mandi district (157) and Kullu (105). As many as 110 power distribution transformers and 131 water schemes are disrupted. Besides, the overall damage in the state this monsoon has crossed Rs 2,300 crore.
