Rajput Mahasabha Himachal Pradesh KS Jamwal has said the successive state governments have tried to weaken the Rajput community. A monthly meeting of the Mahasabha was held at Hamirpur yesterday. Jamwal presided over the meeting and the proceedings were conducted by state vice-president (Hamirpur) Dalip Dattwalia.

The neglect of demands such as establishment of a General Category Commission and Rajput Welfare Board, classification within reservation, implementation of the creamy layer and increasing the EWS income limit in line with the Central Government show that the community is being sidelined, Jamwal added. He emphasised that to secure these rights, the community must stay united and struggle collectively.

Senior vice-president of Mahasabha and former VC of agriculture university Prof Ashok Sarial said the Rajput community had defended the nation for centuries with valor and sacrifice. In today’s democratic setup, the vote is the community’s greatest weapon and it must be used collectively, he said, adding rising above party lines, the community will support whichever representative, whether in the government or opposition, speaks for the interests of the general category.

He also warned that showing the Rajput population as 28% instead of the actual 34–36% is an attempt by political leaders to weaken the community.
