A high-level delegation of the Rajput Mahasabha Himachal Pradesh, led by state president KS Jamwal, met Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu at his official residence, Oak Over, Shimla, two days ago. The delegation submitted a detailed memorandum highlighting the persistent neglect and discrimination allegedly faced by the Rajput community and general category youth in the state.

Addressing the media today, Jamwal stated that the Chief Minister gave the delegation a patient hearing and responded positively to several of their concerns. Among the key demands was the revival of the General Category Commission, which was discontinued by the previous government. The Chief Minister assured that a departmental report would be sought and appropriate action taken.

The mahasabha expressed concern over perceived caste-based favoritism in the implementation of welfare schemes. In response, the Chief Minister clarified that several schemes, such as education loans of up to Rs. 20 lakh at just 1% interest, are already available to all youth, regardless of caste. He further stated that housing initiatives like the Indira Awas Yojana benefit all economically weaker families without caste discrimination.

The delegation also urged the re-evaluation of inter-caste marriage incentive schemes, a review of financial provisions under the SC/ST Atrocities Act, and the extension of a monthly grant of Rs. 600 to general category students (Classes 1–8) in government schools, similar to grants received by SC/ST students. Jamwal noted that the Chief Minister explained that many of these schemes fall under the jurisdiction of the central government but assured the delegation he would raise these matters with the relevant departments.
