Rakesh Thakur, former Zila Parishad chairman, has been unanimously elected the chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Kho-Kho Association, here today.
Thakur said he was thankful to the members of the association for entrusting the responsibility on him.
He said the first-ever national kho-kho championship in the state would be held in Una and start on November 27. The event will be inaugurated by Union Minister for Sports and Youth Services Anurag Thakur. He said establishing infrastructure for kho-kho would be his first priority.
He said as many as 70 teams, including boys’ and girls’ (35 each), would participate in the sub-junior kho-kho national championship at Una. He said over 1,200 players and about 300 officials would participate in the event.
