Rape accused held from Saharanpur

Hamirpur, June 6

A man was arrested from Saharanpur in UP for allegedly raping a minor, who is now pregnant.

An FIR against him was registered at the women’s police station on May 28 following a complaint by the 15-year-old victim’s mother.

She alleged that the accused raped his minor daughter twice. The matter came to light when the girl complained of stomach ache and was later found pregnant.

SP Arjit Sen Thakur said the accused had fled the state before the nationwide lockdown. He was traced to Saharanpur in UP and a team was dispatched to arrest him.

He was brought back here on Thursday. The medical examination of the accused had been conducted and further investigation was on, said the SP.
