Though such cases regularly come to light, the authorities concerned have not done enough to discipline the erring drivers. Illegal mining a threat to Baijnath temple

ILLEGAL mining in the Binwa near the Baijnath temple is going on unchecked, posing a serious threat to the the monument. Despite repeated complaints to the authorities, no action has been initiated to stop the mining. Dozens of mules can be seen lifting material from the river to the roadside daily. Mining is being done in the prohibited area. The Deputy Commissioner, Kangra, should address the issue and save the ancient Shiva Temple built in 12th century. — Rakesh Awasthi, Baijnath
