Shimla, January 11
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today said that the records of 56 hospitals in the state would be digitised under the Health Information Management System (HIMS) in the first phase.
Sukhu, while chairing a meeting of the Health Department here, directed the officials concerned to launch the HIMS in a time-bound manner so that doctors could have access to the medical history of patients stored on the cloud-based server. “The HIMS will prove to be a milestone in providing seamless treatment to patients, as there will be no need to carry physical copies of the prescription and medical tests with them,” he said. Doctors would get the requisite information on the click of a button by just entering the mobile phone number of patients, he added.
The Chief Minister said that so far, the state had achieved the target of preparing 73 per cent digital health cards. “The state government is trying to incorporate cutting-edge technology in health institutions to provide best healthcare facilities to people near their homes,” he added.
Sukhu said that the government was aiming to reach out to underprivileged sections of society and providing them with quality healthcare facilities. The government wanted to offer high-end healthcare services in all medical colleges of the state as well, he added.
He said, “Adarsh Swasthya Sansthans will be set up in all 68 Assembly constituencies of the state. The government has deputed six specialist doctors in 35 such institutions and the remaining 33 institutions will also get specialist doctors.”
He reviewed the status of the efforts to establish robotic surgery facilities in three medical colleges, namely the IGMC, Shimla, Atal Institute of Medical Super Specialties, Chamiyana (Shimla), and Tanda medical college, Kangra.
He directed the Health Department to accelerate the process of establishing such facilities so that people could take their benefits.
