Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi today directed Public Works Department (PWD) officials to instruct all Deputy Commissioners and other revenue officers to conduct the ‘girdawari’ (field inspection) of PWD roads and ensure these were duly recorded in the revenue records. He asked the officials to file a compliance report to the Cabinet Sub-Committee chaired by him by August 1.

Negi said that the possession of 214 PWD roads in the state had been duly entered in the government’s name in the past three months. “Since roads play a crucial role in the overall development of the state, it is, therefore, imperative to keep their ownership clearly under the PWD to ensure proper upkeep and maintenance,” he added and directed the departments concerned to complete the registration process of roads and other government properties within a timeframe.

The Cabinet Sub-Committee also reviewed the progress of the work on the 450 MW Shongtong Hydroelectric Power Project being developed by the HPPCL. The minister said that around 60 per cent of the construction work had been completed, and the officials concerned had been told to ensure it was completed before December 2026.
