District Labour Welfare Officer Shweta Kumari said construction workers between the ages of 18 and 60, engaged in building and other construction activities across all panchayats and urban local bodies of Chamba district, can now register at the office of the District Labour Welfare Officer on working days.
She stated that during the registration process, workers must submit the prescribed application form along with the required documents. If any worker is found ineligible or providing false information during verification, strict action will be taken by the department. She cautioned that previously registered workers would also face action if their submitted documents or applications are found to be false or incorrect upon scrutiny.
She appealed to all workers, employers and contractors to ensure that only eligible workers are registered so that the welfare schemes run by the HP Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board can reach the rightful beneficiaries on time.
