Research conclave at Solan varsity

Shoolini University’s Student Research Council (SRC) recently organised a student research conclave and one-day symposium on “Advanced Technology Impacting the Social Economy”. The event was supported by iHUB DivyaSampark, IIT-Roorkee.

The event began with a welcome address by Yogananda School of AI and Engineering head Pankaj Vaidya.

Ramanujan research associate and SRC founder Anitya Gupta delivered the keynote address, and shared insights on the council’s mission to cultivate a research-driven environment. In his address, chancellor PK Khosla spoke about the importance of innovation and translational research, particularly in healthcare.

Khosla announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for students publishing research papers in Nature journal, and a cash award of Rs 25,000 for the mentors. The symposium featured expert talks, including one by Department of Science and Technology former Senior Director Sujit Banerjee on funding opportunities for students and universities.

Harish Sahu from the Defence Research and Development Organisation gave insights into the evolution of quantum technologies.

A highlight of the event was the panel discussion on “Advanced Technologies Impacting the Social Economy”, moderated by assistant professor Piyush.

Students and research scholars showcased their business ideas and research during the conclave.

Anmol Malhotra, a third-year BSc (Biotechnology) student, won first prize for his business model on “Stem Cells from Menstrual Blood.”

Monika, a research scholar from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, secured the second place for her oral presentation on “Green Synthesis of ZnO Nanoparticles Using Rumex Nepalensis Spreng”.

Bhawna Gautam, a second-year MBA student, earned the third place for developing an app providing localised information to tourists.
