Quick solutions to the problems of common people in the district would be the priority for the administration so that people do not have to frequently visit government offices to get their issues solved, said Hemraj Bairwa, who recently took charge as the Kangra Deputy Commissioner.

Speaking to mediapersons at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Wednesday, the 2013-batch Himachal cadre IAS officer said: “Serving people promptly will be the priority of our office. Special focus will be laid on the quick resolution of problems concerning common people.”

The DC said successful implementation of all welfare schemes of the government would be ensured, adding that the officials were working with full devotion and readiness for the successful implementation of all the schemes in the district, and to ensure that the benefits of these schemes reach the beneficiaries.

To keep the youth away from drugs, a campaign would be started across the district with coordination of all departments, and people’s participation, the DC added.

The Deputy Commissioner said special emphasis would be laid on sports activities and opening of more libraries at every level so that the young generation stays away from the drugs.

The DC said a plan would also be prepared to promote tourism activities in Kangra district and to provide better facilities to the devotees of the Shaktipeeths (temples), adding that various programmes already running in the district would be taken forward with promptness so that development can gain momentum.

Bairwa had previously served as the Deputy Commissioner of Hamirpur.
