Restore subsidy on ration to APL families: CPM

n The CPM on Thursday criticised the state government’s decision to reduce subsidy on ration given to the above poverty line (APL) category people in the times of the pandemic. It asked the government to restore the subsidy as given earlier.

n Sanjay Chauhan, CPM district secretary and former Shimla Mayor, said that the government instead of giving relief to people was cutting down on the subsidy provided to the APL families in the state. They were being forced to buy ration at higher prices, he added.

n He said that the government should revoke its decision, as the lockdown had hit the APL families and the poor, workers and women and students equally bad.
