Review polling station lists, send suggestions: Sirmaur DC to public
In accordance with the directives of the Election Commission of India, Sirmaur District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Sumit Khimta has announced that draft lists of polling stations had been prepared for the five Assembly constituencies within the district. These constituencies are 55-Pachhad (SC), 56-Nahan, 57-Shri Renuka Ji (SC), 58-Paonta Sahib and 59-Shillai, which are part of the 4-Shimla (SC) parliamentary constituency.
These draft lists had been meticulously prepared as per the provisions of Section 25 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
To ensure transparency and public participation, copies of these draft polling station lists would be made available for public inspection from September 2 to September 8.
The lists could be accessed during office hours at various locations, including the office of the Deputy Commissioner in Nahan, as well as at the offices of the Electoral Registration Officers and Subdivisional Officers (Civil) in Pachhad (located in Sarahan), Nahan, Sangrah, Paonta Sahib, Shillai, and all tehsil and sub-tehsil offices within the district. The Deputy Commissioner urged the public to review the draft lists and provide objections or suggestions regarding the establishment and adjustment of polling stations.
Such feedback was crucial for ensuring that the final list was comprehensive and accurately reflected the needs of the voters, he said.
The public could submit their objections or suggestions to the District Election Officer in Nahan or the respective Electoral Registration Officers at the offices mentioned above, no later than September 8, he added. The Deputy Commissioner assured the public that all received objections and suggestions would be thoroughly reviewed and addressed by September 12.
