Road in poor shape
I would like to invite the kind attention of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur towards the poor condition of the Patti-Pantehar road, which falls in the Palampur Assembly constituency, represented by a Congress MLA. Despite repeated requests of residents of the area, the Public Works Department has failed to repair the road in the past three years. No bitumen is seen on the surface. In rainy season, the road gets inundated. The villagers are agitated over the non-cooperative attitude of the PWD. It seems that the PWD is extending a stepmotherly treatment to the area because this constituency is represented by oppposition MLA Ashish Butail. — Naresh Kumar Sharma, Pantehar, Palampur
Poor drainage causing problems
RESIDENTS of of the Friends Colony in Una and the adjoining Arniala panchayat on the outskirts of the town are a harried lot. Here, rain and drain water overflow onto the link road, resulting in foul smell and breeding of mosquitoes. The lack of proper drainage system has put the health of residents under grave danger, besides posing a risk of accidents on slippery roads. — Raghubir Chand, Una
