Residents say in case the road is completed, it can also help decongest the Bhagsunag and Mcleodganj areas and help create one-way traffic routes to Bhagsunag.

The hotel associations of Dharamsala had requested the Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu during his recent winter visit to Kangra to get the road completed.

The road to Indrunag generally gets damaged as the area falls in active sliding zone. It generally gets damaged each monsoon. The government should consult geological experts to construct the road that is prone to sliding during monsoons, he said.

Sanjeev Pathania, who has a hotel on the Indrunag road, said the road had been lying damaged for the past one year. It got damaged badly in last monsoons and has sunk at many places. Tourists coming to the area complain about the poor condition of the road, he said.
